Profiting from Private Label Rights: How to Use PLR

November 3, 2008

Purchasing private label rights enables you to resell not only the product you purchase, but to sell the resale rights for that product. If you purchase only the resell rights, you can distribute the product but are unable to sell the resale rights. Owning private label rights or “PLR” will allow you to sell resell rights to the customer so they in turn can redistribute the product to others.

Another way of gaining the private label rights is to hire a ghost writer or copywriter to compose articles or an eBook for you. You can stipulate that the rights will be yours exclusively before you hire them. The charge for quality article writing ranges from $10 to $30 dollars. Private label rights can be purchased for $10 to $20 on average.

After purchasing private label rights, you can modify the work in any way you choose. For example, if you purchase an eBook, you can separate it into individual articles and sell them individually or conversely, you can purchase a set of articles, combine them into an eBook and sell it through Clickbank or eBay.

Many people purchase PRL articles and use them for article marketing or as an insensitive to gain newsletter subscribers by offering a free report. Others offer freebies for purchases and use the prl content as the freebie.

Methods of Profiting from Private Label Rights- 12 Ways To Use PLR

  1. Generate traffic to your site by placing links to it within your eBook.
  2. Generate traffic to affiliates by placing links to their site and product in the eBook thereby making a commission on products to which you lead customers.
  3. You can separate an eBook for which you have purchased private label rights and use the individual articles on your own site. This adds content for search engine spidering and results in more visitors to your website.
  4. Use part of each article in auto-responders with a link to the complete article on your site.
  5. Use the articles in newsletters or eZines, again, directing the reader to your website or an affiliate.
  6. Display articles on your website, placing a byline at the end of each and publish them. Give permission for readers to use your articles with the stipulation that your byline containing your URL is included. This distributes advertising content on the web and increases link popularity, which search engines love.
  7. Add your byline to the articles in your eZine, again giving permission for readers to distribute them with the byline included. This not only increases traffic and link popularity, but can increase your page ranking.
  8. Offer articles or eBooks as a bonus to customers when they purchase a product or subscribe to your newsletter
  9. Rewrite the articles for which you’ve purchased private label rights and name yourself as the author in your byline.
  10. Submit articles to article directories with a link to your site.
  11. Rewrite eBooks to make them original and then sell the resale rights.
  12. Make sure you understand the guidelines for the PLR package you purchase. Be certain you have the authority to use the material in whichever way you choose and you will be well on your way to making a profit with private label rights.

Have you ever used PRL content? If so, how have you used it?

    Hi Tara
As always, a great explanation of this method of traffic generation.

I would add that if you are using PLR articles for article submission then you should rewrite those articles. Some of the bigger article directories are quite strict and will reject articles if they are already published or are too similar to existing articles.

    Hi, Tara:

Where do you get your eBooks to add to a flip? Do you have a specific source. Let me know.

Caroline’s point is #1 and a large amount of the time, the rewrites are so extensive, you may have well just written the article from scratch.

If you do use them though. be sure to check the “rights” document that should come with each package….not all actually give full unlimited rights.

Caroline, You are very right! Any PLR used for article submissions does need to be edited!

Missy, I never include ebooks with a flip. I use PLR to offer free ebooks to people who join a mailing list or subscribe to my rss. That way I do not have to re-write them! :) I am going to be doing a post in a few days with a few good sources for PLR.

Dennis, what I like about using PLR say ebooks or reports, is the fact I can give them away to invite someone to take an action, like I said before. Or even use them as a freebie offer for someone who makes a purchase.

PRL content re-writes must be done, but the great things is, most good prl articles have done the research and leg work for the article. So, it gives you a lot of info to write on and ideas as well.

Tara - true, but unfortunately good PLR is not the majority..at least in my experience.
